Mindfulness - 6 easy ways to practice in your daily life in 2020
This time of the year most of us take some time to reflect on our life, we look back over the previous months and think about ways that allow us to live life to the fullest.
In a busy world our attention is on a whole lot of things. Our days are cluttered and busy with most of us multitasking at any given point in time.
Being more mindful will help you to become calmer, more productive and move toward a more balanced life. Mindfulness has a way of sounding complicated, it’s anything but!
We share some easy ways how to practice mindfulness in your daily life.
Go for a walk along the beach |
Go for a walk along the beachGoing for a walk is a good exercise but it’s easy being distracted when caught up in your thoughts. As you walk, pay attention to the lifting and falling of your feet, notice the movement in your legs and body. If your thoughts are wandering, bring them back to the sensation of your movements.
Be present when you talk to someoneGive the other person space and time, relax and let them relax as well. Remove distractions, means don’t answer your phone, stop checking your messages…. Listen more than you talk. Listening, really listening is one of the most important compliments we can give another person! |
Take time for your mealsInstead of eating while working or scrolling through your emails put all electronics away. Most often mindless eating happens when we are rushed, multitasking or bored. Make time for your meals, taste the food you are eating, enjoy the different textures and flavours. Try not to over consume on meat, poultry, dairy and seafood and be sure to buy from really good quality farmers (grass feed, free range, organic). It makes a huge difference! |

Mindfulness needs practice
Mindfulness is like learning a new language. You can’t just decide to be fluent in French, you have to learn the language first. It’s the same with mindfulness.
Keep it short
Our brain responds better to bursts of mindfulness. Being mindful several times a day is more helpful than a lengthy session. While 20 minutes seems to be the golden rule, starting at a few minutes a day is okay as well!
